Educational goals
The aim of the course is to introduce the student to the topologies of DC input power converters, which are used in the implementation of power supplies and in the production of adjustable ac voltage for driving motors or interconnecting RES systems. In the laboratory, the student should be able to handle and assemble passive and active electronic components, precisely control their actions with coordinated action and skill, and in addition to gain automation when implementing and taking measurements from electronic instruments. Thus, the student will acquire the ability to identify and repair damages to actual power electronics boards in the environment where he or she is pursuing his / her professional activity. Specific objectives of the course are that the student can:
- Remember, recognize, evaluate and use the knowledge from the Power Electronics course.
- Classify, describe and analyze the DC-DC converters.
- Design and calculate various types of power supplies.
- Describe and explain the topologies of inverters.
- Identify and select the most suitable power circuit, depending on each application and in particular for power supplies and electric motor drives.

Students evaluation
Ι. Written final theory (FT) test, which is in the form of problem solving with distinct difficulty and the free use of any book.
ΙΙ. Intermediate Project (IP), which deals with the study, design and simulation of a power circuit.
ΙΙΙ. Evaluation of deliverable laboratory exercises (LAB).
The course grade is derived by equation FT * 0.3 + IP * 0.3 + LAB * 0.4 and must be at least five (5.0).
The grade in each of the three evaluation methods must be at least four (4.0).
The assessment criteria are notified to students through the course web site and also during lectures and labs.
