The dissertation aims to investigate how information spreads and how users form their opinions and make decisions within complex networks. To achieve this, we will employ techniques from network theory, information theory, and entropy to analyze the diffusion of information and its influence on complex networks. Specifically, we will focus on the diffusion of information and the change it brings to the network, the sequence of decisions, and the effectiveness of strategies by entropically measuring the degree of cooperation or respectively the lack of this in the network. Additionally, we will study the problem of optimal communication channel design, the planning of information disseminationthrough a communication channel between network nodes, and the concept of strategic “deterrence” of a node by a network agent. This will involve a”smart” change of the weights of connections with neighboring nodes to respond to challenges from the diffusion of information.
